National Girlfriend Day

I recently found out that August 1st is National Girlfriend Day – so the first thing to do is gather up your girlfriends and bring them on a Red Cloak Haunted History Tour! We will have 3 tours on Wednesday, August 1st (which is also a Full Moon night, by the way!); Camden, Boothbay Harbor and first come first served for Damariscotta or Wiscasset.

The second thing to do is share a girlfriend ghost story with me. Maybe you and a girlfriend had a paranormal experience or explored a haunted house together, or maybe your story is more like mine…

My best friend since early elementary school lives across the country from me here in Maine. She and I were inseparable as we were growing up and each considered the other’s family to be ours as well. My mother used to wear a particular lotion with a distinctive smell – long ago off the market. The night my mother passed away, my girlfriend told me she was awakened in the middle of the night and knew someone was in her room – and she knew just who it was; she could distinctly smell my mother’s lotion – a smell she had not experienced in over 30 years! My mother had stopped in to tell her goodbye.

What’s your story??

Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Life for Me!

Pirates are taking over midcoast Maine! Good Pirates, of course. This weekend Pirates invade Damariscotta as a fundraising event for charity and next week they take over Boothbay Harbor for Windjammer Days!

To join the fun, we’re doing a special Pirate Tales Tour tomorrow (6/22) for a school group in the morning; and at night if you mention “Pirates” when making your reservation, we’ll donate 20% to the local charity that the Pirates are benefiting! If you ask your guide, Christine, very nicely, she might even tell a pirate tale or 2!

Next week, during Windjammer Days, we’ve tweaked our tours so that there’s some focus on Pirates in Maine (particularly the Boothbay Harbor Area) – yes, there  really were! We’ll also tell a bit about Windjammer history in Boothbay Harbor along with some ghosts, of course!

So… Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of… your choice!

What could be better than a Full Moon Maine Ghost Tour?

A Full Moon Maine Ghost Tour with some history thrown in, of course! And with The Lady in the Red Cloak! We’ll have tours in Damariscotta and Bath tomorrow evening at 7:00. I’m beginning to offer a few 5:00 tours, which are great for some people, and we’ll have those tomorrow as well. The weather’s been fantastic and should stay through tomorrow at least!

Full Moon Explore Results

We had a great group join us on Saturday night’s Full Moon Midnight Explore at the Rufus Flye house in Damariscotta, Maine! We started with more than a light supper which included a choice of lobster roll or crab cakes among others, thanks to Salt Bay Cafe. After a short history of the building and paranormal happenings there, an explanation of devices that would be used during the evening, and the plan for exploration, the hunt began!

We split into 3 teams, each of which had an EMF detector, camera and flashlight. A K2 meter was used by one group, and we had 2 EVP recorders as well as an infared non-contact thermometer and 2 video cameras.

Several EVP sessions were done in different parts of the building, one which included a guest feeling something brush against her bare leg and stay there for approximately 3-4 minutes. The temperature surrounding her dropped about 3 degrees at that time!

In another area of the building there was some very active EMF activity. An EVP recording was taken there as well.

During a break for coffee and soda, we experimented with dowsing rods, trying to get the spirits to communicate with us that way. The evening wrapped up about 1:00 am.

Due to the large amount of data to be evaluated, we do not have results ready to post yet, but I wanted to give you a short idea of how the evening went.

Results will be posted on our new website www.mysteriousdestinations.com as soon as possible, please check back often. This new website is a sideline expansion of Red Cloak Haunted History Tours, and will be offering another Explore at the Rufus Flye House on October 15, as well as an Explore at the haunted Winter Street Center in Bath in September, 2 Halloween overnights and a cruise to the Western Caribbean in March! You will want to join us on all of these adventures for sure!

Full Moon Damariscotta, Maine !

Last chance – less than 24 hours to get your reservation in for tomorrow night’s Full Moon Midnight Explore! Yes, there are still spaces available… if you dare! Here’s the link to what it ‘s all about – we’re going to have the best time! Will we hear the disembodied voice? Will we see the shadows? Will we hear the footsteps? Just last night, on one of our regular Red Cloak Tours, a guest took a photo of the building that seems very strange! We’ll have it to evaluate, on site, tomorrow night. Call to reserve, 207-380-3806
